The Next Chapter: SPR Acquired by Andersen Group Inc. (NYSE: ANDG)
When you spend your career building something, you don’t make decisions like this lightly.
Today, I’m excited to share that SPR has been acquired by Andersen Group Inc. (NYSE: ANDG).
While this marks a significant milestone for our company, I want to spend less time talking about the transaction itself and more time talking about why I believe this is the right next chapter for SPR. Because to understand where we’re going, you first must understand where we came from.
SPR started in my parents’ kitchen in 1973. My father, Gene Figliulo, believed technology could solve incredible business problems, but only if clients had experienced, dependable people they could trust. He built SPR around that simple idea, and it became our promise: “Experienced professionals, when you need them most.”
Fifty years later, the spirit of that promise still defines us.
I’ve had the privilege of growing up with this company, working alongside remarkable people, and eventually leading SPR through decades of technological change: from mainframes to the web, from cloud computing to AI. Along the way, we’ve reinvented ourselves many times, but we’ve never lost sight of what mattered most: our people, our clients, and doing work we're proud of.
Why This Decision Was Different
If you’ve known SPR for any length of time, you probably know I’ve always believed in remaining independent. Over the years, we’ve had conversations with organizations interested in acquiring SPR. The answer was always the same. No, thank you.
Not because we weren’t open to growth, but because we weren’t interested in becoming just another acquisition. I wasn’t willing to compromise the culture we’d spent decades building or the relationships we’d built with our employees and clients. Then Andersen entered the conversation.
What stood out was its philosophy. I met people who care about clients the way we do. Leaders who value integrity over shortcuts. Organizations that believe culture isn’t something you write on a wall, it’s something you demonstrate every day.
For the first time, I wasn’t asking myself, “How do we preserve what makes SPR special?” I was asking, “How far can we take it?”
What Changes and What Doesn’t
Naturally, the first question people ask is, “What does this mean for me?”
The answer is actually pretty simple. The people you work with today are the same people you’ll work with tomorrow. The relationships we’ve built remain the same.
Our commitment to delivering exceptional technology solutions hasn’t changed.
What changes is our ability to do even more.
Working under the Andersen Consulting brand and as a part of Andersen’s global platform, we are able to provide clients with a seamless, integrated professional services model delivering best-in-class tax, legal, valuation, global mobility, and consulting services worldwide. We have access to broader expertise, larger opportunities, and deeper capabilities than we could have developed on our own. It doesn’t change who we are. It expands what we’re capable of becoming, and we look forward to transitioning to the Andersen Consulting brand in the coming months.
Looking Forward
One of the responsibilities of leading a company with a fifty-year history is knowing when to protect what's been built and knowing when it’s time to help it grow.
I believe this decision does both. It honors everything Gene started more than five decades ago while creating new opportunities for our employees, our clients, and the generations of leaders who will shape the organization long after I’m gone. That’s something I’m incredibly proud of.
Finally, I simply want to say thank you: to our employees, who have built this company one client at a time; to our clients, who have trusted us with their most important work; to our alumni, partners, and friends, who have been part of this journey; and especially to my father, whose vision continues to guide us every day.
SPR has always been about helping organizations solve hard problems through great people and great technology. That mission hasn’t changed. We’re just fortunate enough to continue pursuing it on a much larger stage.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
