SPR was named a Best Place to Work by Built In for the third year in a row. SPR is in the top 100 of the Chicago Midsize Best Places to Work list awarded by Built In.

The annual awards program includes companies of all sizes, from startups to those in the enterprise, and honors both remote-first employers as well as companies in large tech markets across the U.S.

“Our team consistently delivers a world-class work experience,” said Rob Figliulo, CEO, SPR. “SPR has endeavored for over 50 years to be a great workplace, evidenced by establishing this track record receiving the award from Built In.”

SPR won in the Chicago region in line with its company headquarters, though SPR boasts a flexible work environment. “Chicago was the first home of SPR and continues to be where the majority of our employees live,” said Figliulo. “That said, we have employees living across the country and believe that our remote work environment has actually improved efficiency and timely delivery for clients without compromising on quality software development.”

Built In determines the winners of Best Places to Work based on an algorithm, using company data about compensation and benefits. To reflect the benefits candidates are searching for more frequently on Built In, the program also weighs criteria like remote and flexible work opportunities, programs for DEI and other people-first cultural offerings.

“This award reflects a commitment to ensure our company is a great place to work and that employees see how much they are valued,” says Stacy Fox, Vice President of Talent Operations, SPR.

ENDURING CULTURE

The criteria for the Built In Best Places To Work Awards took into account a company’s culture, compensation, and benefits program. During this time that has been deemed the great resignation, or quiet quitting, SPR’s 94% retention rate in 2023 confirms that SPR continues to engage its employees. SPR focused on a few areas for employee satisfaction in 2023, including flexibility and employee wellness.

Maintaining a value of flexibility

During the past few years, SPR kept employees’ safety in mind while remaining flexible about what the future may hold. SPR continues to support flexible work while meeting our clients’ needs, whether that means working remote, at a client site, or at an SPR office space. Employees have a choice, working in the location where they are most comfortable. By maintaining hubs in Chicago and Milwaukee, SPR provides a space to come together as needed to learn, work, and grow.Focusing on employee wellness

SPR has enhanced its benefits in recent years, focused on growing the SPR culture no matter where an employee is located. SPR’s health and wellness program, SPRy, expanded to include a committee that meets regularly to brainstorm and plan events and offerings. In 2023, that included:

  • Quarterly employee step challenges
  • Free access to premium content on Calm, a wellness app that focuses on mental health, stress management, and meditation
  • Organized participation in Chicago 5k runs
  • Virtual healthy cooking classes
  • Virtual lunchtime meditations
  • Weekly wellness newsletter
