We fused our love for technology with our desire to help others, coming together to develop programs and support like-minded organizations to impart knowledge, develop skills, and better ourselves and our community. Nothing beats watching a young person consider the amazing possibilities of technology. We aim to inspire today’s youth to become tomorrow’s savvy business folks and empowered technologists. We work with Chicago Public Schools, Year Up Chicago, Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, UIC’s Chicagoland Entrepreneurship Education for People with Disabilities (CEED) among others, to provide urban children and youth with learning opportunities.
There are many misconceptions and narrow perceptions about who makes up an effective workforce. Yet, professionals with disabilities bring perspectives and skills that uniquely extend a company’s workforce. We founded ITKAN Chicago, a collaboration with partners like Microsoft Technology Center Chicago and Abilitylinks, to create opportunities for skilled IT professionals with disabilities – and we proudly call many of these individuals our colleagues.
We love supporting innovation and technology initiatives in Chicago. We participate in civic hacks to support the development of new tools that make our city a better place for all and educate Chicago’s youth by sponsoring technology related field trips at SPR. We align with like-minded organizations and initiatives including Chicago Public Schools, the ITF’s 50 for the Future, and the National Center for Women and Information Technology.
Our employees wanted more. More opportunities to get involved. To give back. To meet inspiring individuals. And with that, we created SPR Cares, our commitment to philanthropy of all sorts. From toy drives to feeding the less fortunate, we seek to love and support those in need.
